CHENNAI: Employees of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), will take out a rally to Fort St. George on May 29 in support various demands, including salary revision. In a press release, union president S. Pancharathnam and general secretary S.S. Subramanian urged the State government to scarp plans to set up a transmission commission. “It is the first step towards privatisation of the board.” The government should fill the 25,000-odd vacancies of field workers with contract labour, they demanded. — Special Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
