NCP unhappy over ‘unfulfilled promises’

PANAJI: The power struggle among the partners of the Congress-led coalition government in the State came to the fore once again on Tuesday with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the second largest coalition partner, expressing doubts about the stability of the government as some of the coalition members were disgruntled over certain unfulfilled promises.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Wilfred de Souza, president of Goa NCP, said some of the issues and promises made to coalition partners by the coordination committee of the coalition remained to be fulfilled.

“I have spoken about it to the NCP’s central leaders and they have told us to wait till the Karnataka Assembly elections are over,” said Mr. de Souza.

Sardinha criticised

Recalling how the Kamat government had virtually collapsed in February this year and was saved by the intervention of the central leaderships of the Congress and the NCP by making certain promises to the disgruntled coalition partners, Mr. de Souza lambasted Goa Congress president Francisco Sardinha for his recent public remarks about certain issues not being part of the promises discussed by the coordination committee.
