White paper sought on economic reforms

Thrissur: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh national general secretary Lakshman Reddy has urged the Centre to bring out a white paper on its economic reforms. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that one lakh farmers had committed suicide in the country between 1991 and 2006.

“Suicide of farmers can be linked to liberalisation. The country’s economic policies should be re-examined.

The policies cater to the interests of the U.S. and agencies such as the World Bank,” he said.

He announced that BMS would conduct a nation-wide agitation against price rise between May 15 and 21.

Dharnas and marches will be held in all districts on May 21.
