Thai doctors for Myanmar

A team of 30 Thai doctors will head for Yangon on Friday to become the first bunch of foreign medical staff to be accepted by the Myanmar government to extend direct aid to the victims of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar’s Irrawaddy delta, Thai News Agency reported on Wednesday, quoting the country’s Health Minister.

Under the patronage of Thai Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, the medics are set to leave Bangkok on Friday for two weeks field assignment, Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsup was quoted as saying on Tuesday.

The medical team will comprise 30 physicians from the ministry itself, Mr. Chaiya said. — Xinhua
