PUDUKOTTAI: Work on the construction of the Regional Transport Office here at an estimate of Rs. 1.52 crore on a sprawling site of five acres is in full swing. While the office building, with a plinth area of 861 sq. metre, is being constructed on an area of three acres at an outlay of Rs. 1.25 crore, a full-fledged test-track is being set up on the balance two acres at an expenditure of Rs. 27 lakh. The ground floor of the building will accommodate all public-related services including the issuing of licences and office of Motor Vehicle Inspectors. The first floor accommodates the other administrative sections, said Regional Transport Officer P. Gurusamy. More importantly, the building has been designed to cater to future needs with a focus on expansion and introduction of advanced services.
