China storms into semifinals

JAKARTA: Defending champion China cruised into the Thomas Cup badminton semifinals on Wednesday with a 3-0 win over Thailand.

China will play Friday’s semifinals against Malaysia, which advanced 3-0 over Japan at Jakarta’s Istora Senayan Indoor Stadium.

In the women’s Uber Cup, host Indonesia reached the semifinals with a lopsided victory over Hong Kong.

The results: Thomas Cup: China bt Thailand 3-0; Malaysia bt Japan 3-0
