Engineering college has engaged outside trainers

Coaching to be imparted free of cost
’It has helped in boosting their confidence’

MYLAVARAM: Understanding the need to face increasing competition, the Lakireddy Bali Reddy College of Engineering (LBRCE) management has started engaging outside trainers known for their expertise in soft skills and communication skills to provide additional benefit to their students.

LBRCE president V. Sachidanandam said that these professional skill trainers would help in increasing the confidence of students and make them understand the nitty-gritty of behaving and adjusting in a corporate environment in which students would have to work once they come out of the college at the end of their four-year professional course. “Interaction and engagement with outside trainers has benefited our students a lot. This has increased their confidence to face interviews conducted by placement companies. That is why, we’re making it compulsory for every student to get exposed to such skill training,” he says.

Addressing a function organised to hand over merit scholarships given by the Lakireddy Bali Reddy Charitable Trust at LBRCE here on Thursday, Dr. Sachidanandam advised parents and their children to understand the growing importance of communication skills in determining the success of a student in industry. “Some students do not show much interest. Though we provide skill training free of cost, some are not very keen on taking advantage of it. Our college wants to see every student being benefitted from this,” he added.

Scholarships

Dr. Sachidanandam handed over merit and means scholarships worth Rs. 18 lakhs to nearly 156 students studying in various courses in the college. The LBR Charitable Trust, located at Velvadam, identifies and provides scholarships to meritorious and economically needy students every year. LBRCE Director (administration) K. Timma Reddy and Principal R. Chandrasekharam were also present.

Dr. Sachidanandam said recruiting companies were looking for students displaying good behaviour and overall personality skills, which should be acquired with support and guidance from each and everyone in college.

He expressed satisfaction over placements in their college, saying already 250 students had got jobs in major companies and the Tata Consultancy Services would start its drive soon.
