USC scores win

Kayalpatnam: Host United Sports Club (USC), which was substituted for Wheel and Axle Football Club, Bangalore, which did not turn up, scored a 2-1 victory over Sethu Football Club, Madurai in a first round match in the 43rd annual Maulana Abulkalam Azad memorial Trophy all-India football tournament here on Thursday.

Sadakathulla gave the lead for the host with a ninth minute strike off a pass from Yousuf and Aathia enhanced the lead off a Shaik’s lob in the 30th minute.

Sethu Football Club reduced the margin in the 42nd minute, when Sunder found the net off a cross by Shaik from the right. — Sports Correspondent
