Three art forms at one place

BANGALORE: Three forms — poetry, dance and music — come together on Friday evening when Natyalakshana presents The Fires Within at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall here, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

It has been aptly said that poetry, if far removed from music, is not poetry; while music far removed from dance is not music.

Natyalakshana brings all these three art forms together to provide a rich experience, selecting poems by famous names.

The original poems will be recited while their English translations are provided in the brochure.

On the cards are selections from the Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore, The Fountain Awakens, a fusion piece, Bharathiyar’s Dikku Theriyada Katil and Om Shakti Om in Bharatanatyam style, Mirza Ghalib’s poetry in Kathak and P.B. Shelly’s adaptation from the Mask of Anarchy.

The dances are choreographed and produced by Usha Venkateshwaran.
