New Delhi: The security and political situation in Jammu and Kashmir came up for discussion as State Congress chief and Union Minister Saifuddin Soz met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Thursday. The recent spurt in infiltration bids, firing on border and terror incidents in the state are understood to have figured in the discussions, sources said. Involve Kashmiris: PPP leader Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim told a press conference here that the views of Kashmiris had to be considered for resolution of the Kashmir dispute. “The Kashmir issue is old and should be resolved. Both sides — India and Pakistan —should meet and discuss it,” he said. Asked whether he was suggesting a trilateral dialogue involving India, Pakistan and Kashmiris, he said the modalities could be worked out. — PTI © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
