Tight security puts tourists to inconvenience

Udhagamandalam: Extremely tight security at tourist spots like the Ooty Lake for some time on Thursday subjected a large number of tourists to considerable inconvenience.

Police sources, when contacted by The Hindu said that in connection with the visit, the Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who was under ‘Z plus’ security cover and his entourage security was beefed up at various places.

He had come up by road from Mysore and returned in the evening.

However tourists lamented that owing to the presence of a large number of police personnel, as well as restrictions that were imposed on the movement of people till the VIP left, they were put to hardship.
