Fine imposed on TNEB officials

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulation Commission has imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 each on Member (generation) and Chief Engineer (PPP) of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, for going against its orders.

The Commission had, in May 2006, issued an order prescribing charges for transmission and wheeling of electricity. The Board contravened the orders and levied extra charges. The Commission also directed the Board to refund the excess collection with six per cent interest to private electricity generators within 30 days. — Special Correspondent
