VISAKHAPATNAM: A total of 3,622 candidates will take the Civil Services Preliminary Examination, being conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), to be held at 10 centres in the district on Sunday.

At a meeting organised in this connection on Saturday, District Revenue Officer S. Satyanarayana directed the officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. While candidates have to take their optional paper in the morning session from 9.30 a.m., they would have to take the general studies paper in the afternoon session from 2.30 p.m. Candidates have to report at their examination centre by 9.10 a.m. and 2.10 p.m. for the two sessions.

He said that a Control Room was set up in the UPSC Office with telephone no.’s 23383052, 23381131 and 23381132 for clarifying the doubts, if any, relating to the examination. A Control Room has also been opened in the District Collectorate in Visakhapatnam with phone no.’s (0891) 2564426 or (0891) 2563121 extn.187.

Special Deputy Collectors N. Balaji Singh, A. Neelakantam and M. Markandeyulu, principals of various colleges P. Mariadas, G.A. Narasimham, Purushottam, Parthasaradhi, Subrahmanyam, J. Rao and Atchutaramam were among those who attended the meeting.
