HYDERABAD: In the light of bogus degree certificates confiscated by the police at regular intervals, Osmania University has designed a new format of degree certificates with built in security features incorporated at the paper manufacturing and printing levels. The new certificates to be introduced from this year are made up of high quality durable organic special order paper and make use of latest technology in the design and layout. The security features include visibility of dandy water mark, illuminating security fibres under Ultra Violet (UV) light, microprint on reverse, embossing of seal on gold foil, security numbering (bar coding) and embedded holograms. The OU Vice-Chancellor T. Tirupati Rao said that photographs of candidates will be scanned and printed in the new format of the degree certificates to ensure that fake candidates are dissuaded from using them. The university constituted a committee of senior professors headed by P.
