CHENNAI: Minister for Rural Development and Local Administration M.K. Stalin on Monday reviewed the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. Under the programme in Chennai, Thiruvottiyur will get a Rs. 84-crore drinking water and sewerage system. This scheme has been prepared keeping in view the population growth projected over the next 30 years. In Madurai, a scheme to protect the structures of historical importance and to attract more tourists has been prepared. Shifting congested markets to a place near Mattuthavani has also been planned.
