Manasa wins

BANGALORE: The third-seeded K. Manasa of Mangalore claimed the title in the State women’s chess championship which concluded at the State Youth Centre here.

Manasa finished with five points after beating Shalon J. Pais in the sixth and final round. She tied with Shruthi for the top spot, but was adjudged winner with a better progressive score.

S. Priyanka, with 4.5 points, was placed third, while Shalon (4) took the fourth spot.

The top four players will represent the State in the National ‘B’ women’s championship to be held at Kozhikode from June 6. — Special Correspondent
