Energy theft detected in Guindy

CHENNAI: Officials of the Chennai Enforcement Division and Operation and Maintenance wing of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) recently detected a case of energy theft in Guindy. According to a press release, the low tension domestic service consumer resorted to the direct tapping method. The loss sustained by TNEB due to the theft was estimated at a little over Rs.1 lakh. Since the consumer came forward to compound the case and remitted Rs.16,000, no police complaint was lodged.

Information regarding energy theft may be reported to the executive engineer/enforcement, Chennai, on 94440-85459, the release said.
