CHENNAI: Officials of the Chennai Enforcement Division and Operation and Maintenance wing of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) recently detected a case of energy theft in Guindy. According to a press release, the low tension domestic service consumer resorted to the direct tapping method. The loss sustained by TNEB due to the theft was estimated at a little over Rs.1 lakh. Since the consumer came forward to compound the case and remitted Rs.16,000, no police complaint was lodged.
