‘Shot selection was poor’

Chennai: Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni did not mince his words after Chennai Super Kings’ defeat, chasing 127, at the hands of Royal Challengers here on Wednesday night.

Dhoni lamented that all the talk in the dressing room did not reflect in the batting performance during the chase.

“We let ourselves down. The shot selection was poor. One or two partnerships would have seen us through. It was a gettable total, but no one took responsibility. Most of them floated around,” he said.

He defended his decision to promote himself to the No. 3 slot and said his side would want to ensure qualification against Rajasthan Royals at Chepauk on Saturday. Super Kings, which has 14 points from 12 games and requires another win to book a semifinals berth, meets Deccan Chargers in an away game on May 27.

Meanwhile, the Shane Warne-led Rajasthan Royals have arrived in the city. They have already qualified for the semifinals. — Special Correspondent
