WHAT’S IN STORE?: Virender Sehwag and Sourvav Ganguly have their eyes glued to the sky hoping for the rain to stop. NEW DELHI: Rain left Delhi Daredevils dejected and the spectators frustrated at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Thursday. In a crucial match against Kolkata Knight Riders, the home team spent the evening watching the ground staff work tirelessly to get the field playable even as rain pelted the venue. Delhi, with 12 points from 12 matches, needs to win the last two matches to keep alive its chances of a semifinal berth even as Kolkata faces elimination with 10 points from 12 matches. In case of the teams splitting points tonight, Delhi would need to win its last match against Mumbai here on May 24 and then pray for Mumbai and Chennai to lose their remaining matches. Chennai plays Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers in the last two encounters while Mumbai has fixtures against Rajasthan and Bangalore Royal Challengers. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
