Product will be available from June second week Comes with three-dimensional interface NEW DELHI: Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer High Tech Computer (HTC) Corporation on Thursday launched its new mobile phone, HTC Touch Diamond, in India in exclusive partnership with Bharti Airtel. The company plans to aggressively market its new offering to double its overall sales from one lakh units sold last year in India. Priced at Rs. 27,500, HTC Touch Diamond will be available exclusively on Airtel from the second week of June in 25 cities. The new touch screen phone comes with three-dimensional interface called TouchFLO3D. It provides animated access to people, messaging, e-mail, photos, music, weather and more. Touch Diamond comes with a 2.8-inch display and provides near-print quality viewing of photographs and a perfect Web browsing experience. The built-in camera includes an optical auto-focus lens that ensures clarity of images on a consistent level. Addressing a press conference here, HTC President and CEO Peter Chou said India was an important market for the company. Therefore, the new product was being launched much before the U.S., Japan and European markets, barring England. “Touch Diamond is a breakthrough in innovation that packs the functionalities of a complete phone and offers an entirely new touch screen and mobile Internet and browsing experience for consumers. Embedded with Windows Mobile 6.1, this device offers capabilities to manage office productivity while on the go. We are targeting a sale of two lakh HTC Touch smartphones and 50,000 units of Touch Diamond phones this year,” he added. According to Bharti Airtel’s Executive Director (Mobile Services) Syed Safawi: “HTC Touch Diamond will have one touch access to ‘Airtel Live’ giving customers an easy access to download a variety of games, pictures, video clips, movies and ringtones.” © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
