KODAIKANAL: Salubrious climate, cool breeze, mist-capped peaks and multicoloured flowers drew a sizable crowd from different parts of the country to the annual summer festival and flower show that began at Bryant Park here on Saturday.

Despite the festival having commenced at the fag end of summer season, tourist arrival to the park was impressive. The Tourism and Horticulture departments had arranged over 65 varieties of flowers and hybrid vegetables at the show.

A giant basket of flowers was the star attraction of the festival. A water fountain at the centre of venue and another one around Gandhi statue in Bryant Park were feast to the eyes.To capitalise on the good crowd, Mother Teresa University also opened a stall and sold applications for various courses offered by it. The temperature was hovering between 20 and 18 degree Celsius.

This summer festival will be unforgettable for 106 tribal people living on the declivity of lower Kodaikanal hills near Kumbakarai as their two-and-a-half decade old dream has become a reality.
