Laxman Rao scores hat-trick

HYDERABAD: Centre-forward Laxman Rao scored a hat-trick to guide BHEL (Ramachandrapuram) to a 4-2 win over Friends Club in the ‘B’ division hockey league championship at the AOC grounds here on Saturday.

Ravinder scored the other goal to complete the tally for the winner, while Karthik and R. Kurien reduced the margin.

Chess tournament

The Cyber Chess Academy, with IM Lanka Ravi as convenor, will organise the State junior open chess tournament from May 30 to 31.

Ravi said the event was being organised to coincide with the launch of the full-fledged Cyber Chess Academy.

“With the technical know-how, Cyber Chess started online chess and has a tie up with FICS chess server based in the U.S. for transmission of online data. With the use of special chess software, the moves are transmitted instantly, and both the student and the teacher will be able to analyse the game by moving pieces at either end.”

Cleyton nets a brace

A brace by Cleyton in the 10th and 39th minutes helped Moinuddin XI record a 2-1 win over K.P. Dhanraj XI in the Talent Hunt football tournament (under-15) here. For the loser, Akshay reduced the margin in 50th minute.
