J & K blanks Puducherry

Srinagar: Host Jammu and Kashmir defeated Puducherry 2-0 in the inaugural match of the 62nd J & K Bank National football championship for the Santosh Trophy here on Sunday.

Both the goals came in the first-half. Adil Qadir scored in 25th minute, while Bilal Ahmad made it 2-0 in the 40th minute by converting a penalty.

The home team could have won the match by a bigger margin had they not missed several chances. The visitor also raised its game in the second half to thwart the moves of its rival. — PTI
