No sweat for Erode

KAYALPATNAM: Erode registered an emphatic 4-0 win over Theni in the opening match of the 17th Tamil Nadu State youth football championship organised by Kayal Sporting Club at Kayalpatnam on Sunday.

Karthick (4th minute), Sudath (29th), Sankar (48th) and Velusamy (58th) scored.

Johnson shines

Johnson’s unbeaten 60 helped Nayagan Cricket Club defeat Paramakudi Cricket Club by 116 runs in the Nayagan Trophy State-level Twenty-20 cricket tournament organised by Rainbow Cricket Club at Ramanathapuram on Sunday.

Nayagan CC 168 for seven in 20 overs (Johnson 60 n.o.) bt Paramakudi CC 52 in 15 overs (Kabilan three for six).

Majestic CC, Devipatnam 103 for nine in 20 overs (Nagesh three for nine, Seeni Abudhahir 29) bt Nehru CC 98 in 19.4 overs (Lakshmanan four for 18).

Murali scalps five

R. Murali’s five for 19 helped National Cricket Club defeat Eriodu Cricket Club by seven wickets in the Canara Bank-Dindigul District Cricket Association second division league at Dindigul on Sunday.

Eriodu CC 101 in 15.1 overs (R. Murali five for 19) lost to National CC 102 for three in 12.4 overs.
