Court awards death sentence to four

Mirzapur: A local court on Monday awarded death sentence to a man and his three sons in a murder case.

Special Judge B.D. Verma awarded death penalty to Basant Lal and his three sons for murdering his (Basant Lal’s) brother and another person for property.

According to prosecution, Lal took strong exception to his brother Brahmadeen Dubey giving away his land to his brother-in-law Kedarnath Dubey and murdered both of them.

Brahmadeen who had no issue was living with his brother-in-law Kedarnath Dubey and had given his 16 ‘bighas’ of land in Bhaidpur village. The convicts first murdered Kedarnath Dubey in 1994 and then Brahmadeen in 1998.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each of the convicts.
