Hearing on Talwar’s bail plea deferred

Staff Reporter

NOIDA: Hearing on the bail application of Rajesh Talwar, an accused in the double murder case, was deferred to Tuesday following a protest by lawyers outside the court on Monday against police firing at Gujjars in Rajasthan. Dr. Talwar has been arrested for allegedly killing his daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.

He is on a 14-day judicial custody and is lodged in Dasna Jail at Ghaziabad. His lawyer had moved two applications. One application sought medical help for Dr. Talwar as he was an asthma patient, and the other sought his release on bail stating that the police did not have enough evidence to prove his link with the murders.

But the protesting lawyers blocked entry to the court premises, following which the hearing was deferred. The court on Monday ordered production of Dr. Talwar on Tuesday for hearing an application moved by the police seeking his remand.

The police have sought seven-day remand of Dr. Talwar for his interrogation, which, according to them, is necessary to recover the weapon used to commit the offence and mobile phones of Aarushi and Hemraj.
