Salmon Sebastian stars in Central win

KOCHI: Spinner Salmon Sebastian’s seven-wicket haul helped Central Zone defeat North Zone by four wickets in the final State under-16 inter-zone cricket championship three-dayer at the St. Paul’s College Ground (Kalamassery) on Monday.

South Zone won the title in the three-team league event, while Central finished runner-up.

The scores:

North 159 & 154 (Saly V. Samson 46, Salmon Sebastian seven for 43) lost to Central 86 and 231 for six (Mahin C. Majeed 63, C.A. Mathew 55).

State u-13 chess

The State under-13 chess championship, for boys and girls, will be held at the Kollam YMCA from May 30 to June 1.

The top four finishers of the event will represent Kerala in the forthcoming under-13 national championship in Tamil Nadu.
