Thiruvananthapuram: The annual training camp of the No.1 (Kerala) Naval Unit NCC, Ulloor, Thiruvananthapuram concluded here on Monday. The ten-day camp was held at the St. Xavier’s College, Thumba. About 600 NCC cadets, both boys and girls from various schools and colleges in and around the district including Sainik School, Kazhakuttam, participated. The cadets were also trained to handle and fire small arms at the unit’s firing range at Akkulam. Besides these, the cadets were given hands-on training for waterborne adventure activities like boat pulling, sailing and kayaking at the Akkulam lake. Six NCC officers and eight naval instructors under the supervision of Commander Krishan Kumar, Camp Commandant, conducted the camp activities and training. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
