Four persons arrested on molestation charge

CHENNAI: The Tirumangalam police have arrested four persons in connection with the sexual abuse of a six-year-old girl.

According to police, the girl were molested by the four persons on May 16 and had been warned against revealing to her parents about the incident.

The girl lives with her parents in the Old Tirumangalam area. Her father is a vegetable vendor outside the Koyambedu market.

The incident came to light when the mother noticed change in the girl’s behaviour. Police said a case was registered on Sunday.

The police identified the arrested youths as Rajasekar, Benjamin, Peter and Arokiaraj, all aged 23 to 28 and hailing from Devakottai, Tiruchi, Dindigul and Puducherry respectively. The youths were working in a bakery where a person of foreign origin is providing training to poor youth as part of improvement in the life of slum dwellers, police said. Cases have been registered under section 377 (unnatural offences) read with 506 (2) (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code against the arrested youths.
