NEW DELHI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday decided to send a four-member team to Rajasthan to take stock of the prevailing situation in the State over the Gujjar demand for Scheduled Tribe status. The team, headed by general secretary in charge of Rajasthan, Mukul Wasnik, was due to leave late on Wednesday evening. Announcing this at the party’s briefing here, spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan said the team would include Haryana Minister Birendra Singh, who was recently appointed coordinator for Rajasthan; Pradesh Congress Committee president C.P. Joshi and Congress Legislature Party leader Hemaram Chaudhry. The Congress also charged the Rajasthan government with total failure. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
