His mind was on family and IPL

Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: Sarang Mohammad Naeem, who was kidnapped in the Herat province of Afghanistan on April 21, was definitely worried about his family in India.

But, he also had one other worry, albeit a sporting one. His family members are crazy about cricket, especially the Indian Premier League, which began on April 18. Mr. Naeem was kidnapped three days after the matches began.

In an informal chat with The Hindu on his return to Gurukambla here on Wednesday, Mr. Naeem said, “I was all along wondering if I had ruined the IPL viewing schedule of my family back home.

“The first thing I did on my release was to ask my colleagues about the fate of Bangalore Royal Challengers. I was a bit disappointed when they said the team had fared badly losing most of the matches they played. ”
