“No demand for dowry or cruelty to Grihalakshmi”

CHENNAI: The Chennai Police have filed a report before a magistrate court that there was no demand of dowry by actor T. Prashanth from his wife Grihalakshmi. She was also not treated cruelly or harassed.

Grihalakshmi had preferred a complaint against Prashanth, his father S. Thiagarajan, Shanthi Thiagarajan and T. Preethi Thiagarajan for an offence of dowry demand, cruelty and harassment. As per the orders of the Madras High Court, the All-Women Police Station, T. Nagar registered a case in September 2007 and conducted investigation.

According to the report filed by the police before the XVII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, investigation, enquiry, statement of independent witnesses and perusal of records revealed that there was no demand of dowry by Mr. Thiagarajan and his wife either before marriage or after marriage. Grihalakshmi’s allegation that she was not allowed to use the SIM card given by her parents was baseless.

Facts, investigation and enquiry revealed that there was no demand of dowry or cruelty to Grihalakshmi. The case was referred as “mistake of fact”, the police said requesting the court to accept it.
