MP’s plea to Railway Minister

ELURU: Local MP K. Sambhasiva Rao has urged Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to rethink on increase in freight charges by 25 per cent for loading and transport of fish and egg by parcel van rakes.

In a letter, he said the export of eggs and fish witnessed a slowdown in the coastal region in view of the steep hike in the freight charges. The Eluru region has the potential to export 450-500 tonnes of fish and eggs twice a week if the hike in freight charges was withdrawn, Mr. Rao added.
