TIRUPUR: Nearly a dozen leading textile manufactures from Taiwan exhibited their products, including a range of innovative yarns, laces, fabrics and embellishments here on Saturday.

The Bureau of Foreign Trade of Taiwan organised the fair in association with Taiwan Textile Federation and Apparel Export Promotion Council of India. Similar fairs will be held in Mumbai on June 2, 3 and in New Delhi on June 5 and 6.

Inaugurating the fair, Tirupur Exporters’ Association president A. Sakthivel said that it was for the first time the AEPC was organising such a fair in Tirupur as part of Knitwear Technology Mission. “Really a lot of innovative fabrics, new yarns and trendy embellishments on the show. It will be helpful to the exporting community in expanding their product range by importing these fabrics. In a later stage, our exporters would be able to develop these products indigenously,” he said.

A fabric made of waste water bottles and plastics lured many. Some soft laces can be used for inner and outer garments, exporters said. Nearly 150 exporters, production managers, fabric sourcing executives, fashion designers and representatives from buying houses visited the fair.

At the Taiwan Textile Fair, manufacturers exhibited acrylic, polyester, textured and fancy yarns, circular knitted, warp knitted, recycled fabrics, trimmings and embellishments. “Indian textile market is poised for a higher growth. However, to give a major thrust to its export, it is inevitable that the Indian industry focuses on value-added and innovative products which are in demand in the international market today. Similarly, in the domestic market it must develop a strategy to seize the emerging opportunities. And the fair will help the Indian industry on this mission,” said Jennifer Liu, Project Manager of Taiwan Textile Federation.
