BANGALORE: Vasuki N. has secured an All India Rank (AIR) five in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), an AIR 14 in the IIT-JEE, and the first rank in Common Entrance Test (CET).

“I feel great. I just got to know that I have topped the State for AIEEE. I am really happy that I have secured top marks in three consecutive entrance examinations,” an ecstatic Vasuki told The Hindu.

She attributes her success to the good training at her college, the coaching centre and her parents. “My parents and teachers were very supportive. In the two years that I was preparing for these examinations, my parents did not watch television. I had no distractions at home, which helped me concentrate on my studies,” she said.

Narasimhaswamy, an employee of a private company and Vasuki’s father, said that the celebrations at their home have not ended. “We are very proud of her. She has achieved what we could not when we were young,” he said.

Vasuki said she had decided to take up IIT. “The IIT counselling is on June 18 in Chennai. I am preparing myself for it.”

Prashanth Pundla is another State topper. Prashanth has secured all-India rank 20 in AIEEE and stands second for the State.

He has aced the AIEEE (Architecture) and secured second rank.

“I feel good. I did not expect such a good result. I was surprised and had to ask my father to check my results for me again,” he said.

About his next course of action, he said that he was more intent on cracking the IIT-JEE. “I have secured a decent rank in the IIT-JEE. I plan to take up mechanical engineering in any one of the IITs,” he said.

Ravikumar, an IAS officer and Prashanth’s father, said he was happy with his son’s results.

“We just got to know an hour ago. He is currently with his grandparents in Andhra Pradesh. I called him up immediately and shared the good news with him,” he said.
