KANCHIKACHERLA (Krishna dist.): Three persons of a family were killed and four others injured when a car, in which they were travelling, was hit by a private bus here on Sunday. The police said B. Gayatri, 40, of Vanaparthi was on her way to her native place after joining her two children in a private junior college in Vuyyuru. Along with Gayatri, her mother Bandaru Rukminamma, 58, cousins Kiran Kumar, 19, B. Prabhakar, 35, Raghavendra Rao, 32, his wife Swathi, 29 and car driver Venkata Ramana, 40, were travelling in the vehicle. As one side of the road was closed due to the ongoing repair works, all vehicles were moving only in the other side of the road. When the vehicle was near Mitra agencies around 1 p.m., a Vijayawada-bound private bus from Hyderabad hit the vehicle, killing Gayatri, Rukminamma and Kiran Kumar on the spot. The remaining four escaped with injuries. They were shifted to a private hospital in Vijayawada and their condition is said to be stable. The bodies were sent to Area Hospital in Nandigama for a post-mortem. The bus driver was absconding. Sub-Inspector Sarat Babu registered a case. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
