Rs.20 lakh distributed to 60 panchayats

TIRUVALLUR: Sixty village panchayats in Tiruttani and Pallipattu blocks have been brought under the ‘Vazhndu Kaattuvom’ project implemented by the State government under the aegis of Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj with financial support from the World Bank.

Explaining the features of the project to the elected local body representatives at a function held here on Friday, the Chairman of the project and Collector, Rajendra Kumar, released a sum of Rs. 21 lakh (Rs. 35,000 each) to sixty village panchayat presidents as initiation fund for implementing the project.
