Sanitation will be accorded top priority, says Namakkal’s new Collector

NAMAKKAL: U. Sagayam has assumed charge as the new Collector of Namakkal district on Monday.

He earlier served as Joint Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection.

Welfare programmes

Speaking to reporters, the Collector said that the district administration would ensure effective implementation of all the Government welfare programmes.

Concerted efforts would be made for the growth of agriculture and industry in the district. The administration would initiate steps to make all the village panchayats in the district self-reliant. Sanitation would be accorded top priority. The quality of education in the government schools would be improved, he added.

Mr. Sagayam further said that efforts would be taken up to make Kolli Hills a famous tourist destination in the country. More tourist amenities would be created in the hills. The tourism activities would create employment opportunities to the tribal population in the hills, he said.
