4 injured as militants open fire

Imphal: Four people were injured when five militants opened fire in a market complex in Manipur’s interior Bishenpur district on Monday, official sources said.

The militants, who came in a van around 2.45 p.m., kept driving and firing, and later fled in the direction of Moirang, about 45 km from here.

The condition of Oinam Somorjit, 15, a student, is stated to the serious. The other injured were of a marriage party — N. Radhamani (57), mother of the groom; M. Umu (41) and N. Sovapati (37). All the four were taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital here. — PTI
