Karvade in sole lead

KOZHIKODE: Fourth seed Eesha Karvade moved into the sole lead at the end of the fifth round in the 35th National women’s ‘B’ chess championship at Hotel Sana Tower here on Monday.

The Pune girl beat Bhakti Kulkarni to take her tally to five full points.

She is followed half-a-point behind by three players — top seed Nisha Mohota who beat Amruta Mokal, third seed Mary Ann Gomes who defeated Supriya Maji and fifth seed Aarthie Ramaswamy who outwitted Ch. Divyasri.
