‘NREGP likely only in lean season’

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has said the Government is toying with the idea of implementing the National Rural Employment guarantee programme only during lean season, that is, from March to June keeping in view the shortage of labour for farm works.

Speaking at the Rythu Sadassu at Kumili on Monday, he said the Government had decided to pass orders in this regard in the next 10 days.

Lok Sabha member Botsa Jhansi Lashmi, who was present, said that the issue was already discussed in Parliament and a resolution passed.
