Thirteen killed, 12 injured in accidents

Sangareddy: Thirteen persons died and twelve persons, including three children, were injured in three separate accidents in the State on Monday.

In an accident on the Sangareddy-Narsapur road near Malkapur of Hathnoora mandal in Medak district in the wee hours of Monday, six persons of a family belonging to Karimnagar were killed and three children injured. The Qualis van in which nine persons were travelling hit a stationary truck near Restile Tiles factory.

Rachamalla Venkataiah (65), his elder son Srinivas (40), second son (35), son-in-law Venkateswarlu (35), grandson Vinay (14) and driver of the Qualis van 25-year-old Raju died in the accident. Venkataiah had hired two vehicles to visit Pandharpur in Maharashtra. All the women members of the Rachamalla family were travelling in the second vehicle that escaped the accident. The driver of the ill-fated Qualis failed to notice the stationary truck in the darkas the driver of the truck did not turn on the tail lights as a caution.

Falls into rivulet

Four persons, including the driver were killed when the car in which they were travelling hit the railing of a bridge and fell into a rivulet at Rekunta village in Karimnagar in the early hours on Monday.

Police sources said that the fruit merchants from Korutla and Jagtial went to Hyderabad on business trip and were returning along with another businessman of Chandigarh when the accident occurred. The car driver Md. Kabweer, Md. Mujaheed of Jagtial town, Md. Saleemuddin of Korutla and Vishpal Dogra of Chandigarh died on the spot.

Three persons died and nine others were hurt in a ghastly road accident near Nandyal check-post in Kurnool on Monday. The accident occurred just before a 10-minute drive away from the destination.

According to reports, the family of a retired engineer Ramanjaneya Sarma and his relations were returning from Tirupati in a hired Trax when it collided with a tipper near the check-post. Three persons including the driver died on the spot and nine suffered serious injuries.

Mr. Sarma’s brother Subramanyam, driver Syed Gulam Basha (34) and M. Srivatsava (16) died on the spot. The injured were shifted to hospital.
