CPI to resume land struggle

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has decided to resume its land struggles which it suspended last year from Chinnaganjam in Prakasam district on June 12.

The party cadre will occupy the land allotted by the State Government to Snow White Salt Company at this village, CPI State secretary K. Narayana told a news conference here on Monday.

He said the decision to resume the struggles was taken by the State council meeting of the CPI here on Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. Narayana said the State leaders of CPI and CPI (M) would meet here on June 14 to finalise joint struggles by the parties on land.

The State council mandated CPI to resume the agitation in a bid to provide people alternate politics.

He added that the meeting also discussed the results of the by-elections.

They confirmed the CPI’s fears that the polls were unnecessarily thrust on people.
