Cabinet nod for works in rural mandals

HYDERABAD: The government has decided to take up strengthening of the internal cement concrete roads and underground drainage system with PVC pipes in rural mandals across the State.

The new scheme, estimated to cost Rs. 992.70 crore, envisages release of Rs. 90 lakh to each mandal. The initiative approved by the State Cabinet is, likely to stir a controversy as the in-charge Ministers of the districts will alone exercise the choice in recommending and sanctioning the works. Information Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy told reporters that the Collectors had been empowered to sanction works.
