CHENNAI: The State has urged the Union Petroleum Ministry to sanction eight lakh new LPG connections to the State for the current financial year. Food Minister E.V. Velu met Union Petroleum Minister Murali Deora on Thursday along with Union Communications Minister A. Raja and told him that the State had allotted Rs. 160 crore in the current year’s budget for distribution of eight lakh free gas stoves and LPG connections. For this, the State had requested the Centre to sanction eight lakh connections to the State.
