Young girl brutally murdered by her brother

Dappu Jyothi was the youngest among seven daughters

Her love affair angered her brother D. Yellaiah

Sangareddy: In a shocking incident, a young girl was brutally killed by her own brother in front of family members in Ghanapur village, a few kilometres from Patancheru on Sunday morning.

Eighteen-year-old Dappu Jyothi was the youngest among seven daughters and a son of Dappu Bhoodevamma and Balaiah.

She had fallen in love with Janarthan of the same village who belongs to the same caste of Dappu.

Scared of informing her parents about her love for Janarthan, Jyothi explained her predicament to a former sarpanch Narayana.

Narayana then called a family meeting with the present sarpanch Laxmi Narsimhulu on Thursday, but Jyothi’s brother D. Yellaiah stayed away.

Fearing trouble at home, Jyothi and her mother took shelter at one of their relatives’ home in Patancheru since Thursday.

However, they eventually returned on Saturday to attend the funeral of their neighbour.

Wakes up everybody

Yellaiah personally persuaded Jyothi to return home and accompanied them to Ghanapur.

However, in the wee hours of Sunday, he woke up everyone and announced his decision to finish off Jyothi as she “insulted the family by making her love affair public”. Dragging Jyothi out of the house by her hair, Yellaiah smashed her head with a grinding stone repeatedly. Jyothi died on the spot.

’Murderer’ absconding

None of the family members, including Jyothi’s mother Bhodevamma and two sisters Pentamma and Swaroopa, tried to stop Yellaiah.

Patancheru Circle Inspector Chandrasekhar Goud and BDL Bhanoor Sub-Inspector Gangadhar visited the place. Police are in search of Yellaiah who is absconding.
