Destroyed in fire

PUDUKOTTAI: Vegetables, flowers, fruits and horticultural crops were destroyed in an accidental fire near the Bagavathy Amman temple in Keeranur on Saturday night. At least ten petty shops were gutted . An electrical spark from a tailoring shop caused the incident. Fire tending units from Keeranur and the SIPCOT complex fought the flames for a few hours.

In another incident at a coir unit at Vanniyapillai Vayal village near Aranthangi on Sunday, raw materials and finished goods worth about Rs.1 lakh were destroyed.
