Gen. Sinha to leave J&K on June 25

SRINAGAR: Outgoing Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt. General (retd.) S.K. Sinha is leaving the State on June 25, putting speculations at rest that he was lobbying for extension until the Amarnath Yatra.

A Raj Bhavan spokesperson said the Governor had accepted requests from some organisations for farewell functions here and Jammu. This will be done concurrently with packing of his belongings at both places.

The spokesperson described as baseless the speculations in a section of the media that General Sinha wants to stay on and has been lobbying for it with various authorities and individuals. He described all this as a figment of imagination. General Sinha never made any request for extension or staying back in Srinagar, he added.

Informed sources said Governor-designate N.N. Vohra would take over after June 28 as Chief Justice S.K. Radhakrishnan, who has to administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new Governor, will return to the State from vacation only after June 28.
