Red Rooster Racing takes one-two spot

Special Correspondent

MYSORE: The latest entrant on the rallying scene — Red Rooster Racing — took the one-two spot in the Sidvin Rally of Karnataka which concluded at Mysore on Sunday.

Its drivers, Vikram Mathias and Amritrajit Ghosh steered home the two 2000 cc Cedia’s in the Group N+ class to a predictable finish.

Vikram Mathias and co-driver Srinivas Murthy thus also annexed the overall title in the first leg of the Indian National Rally Championship. It was not all smooth sailing for Vikram Mathias.

As he said later, “just the very first stage of the day was run, we noticed that the fuel railing had come of and the fuel was leaking. It was a bit scary, whether the fuel would hold until the stages were completed and service was allowed. So we ‘crawled’ through the second stage and in the third stage tied the rail up and drove hard and finished the first run.

“Once we sorted out the problem in Service, we were back to our regular place and won the rally with ease,” Vikram said at the post-event press conference.

Amittrajit (co-driver Ashwin Naik), driving a 2000 N+ class for the first time, thanked his mentors Vikram, Leelakrishnan, and Naren Kumar for all the training and tips that he received from them.
