New Delhi: In a bid to open its account in the Delhi Assembly elections, the JD (U) has decided to focus on migrants hailing from ‘Poorvanchal’. “The Congress and the BJP have always played the roles of ‘Sas-Bahu’ without caring for the plight of migrants from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and their basic problems,” party president Sharad Yadav said while addressing a function to mark the return of its former leaders who had joined Lok Janshakti Party. He said, “Time has come for you (migrants) to vote for JD (U) as an alternative and strengthen our party’s positi-on here. Besides focussing on society’s interests, you must take care of your interests.” The JD (U) leader also condemned Raj Thackeray for his anti-migrant drive in Maharashtra. LJP leader Subhas Bihari along with his supporters joined the JD-U on Sunday and stressed on building the party in the Capital. -- PTI. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
